Key interactive elements include the ability for participants to directly question suspects. The interrogation process reveals digital evidence such as documents, photographs, text message logs, and voicemail recordings that teams must analyze.
The event is structured for team collaboration. Groups break into smaller teams to discuss clues and formulate theories. Teams are scored based on correctly identifying the killer's motive, alibi, and catching suspects in lies, with bonus points awarded.
